Honors Keep Rolling in for Lewis;
Named D3football.com Second Team All-American
Dec. 20 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University junior defensive back Aaron Lewis (Englewood, Ohio/Northmont) was named to the D3football.com 2005 All-America Second Team, as announced Saturday, December 17 prior to the Stagg Bowl, Division III National Championship game.
Lewis was previously selected by D3football.com as an All-South Region first team member. He also garnered First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors for the third straight year, was named to the ECAC Division III Southwest First Team and to the First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He becomes Carnegie Mellon’s first football player since the 2003 season to be named All-American, when Chad Zimmerman was named Honorable Mention as an offensive guard by the College Sports Information Directors.
Lewis led the UAA with 115 (61 solo) tackles and ranked second in the UAA with six interceptions. Lewis recorded double-digit tackles six times, including a career-high 22 against Thiel College in the season finale.
Lewis, 6-0, 210, was also named UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week four times during the 2005 season and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week twice.
