Carnegie Mellon’s Lewis and Sivek Named ECAC Southwest First Team

Dec. 9 - (CAPE COD, Mass.) - The Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference, Phil Buttafuoco, has announced the ECAC Division III Southwest Football All-Stars. Carnegie Mellon University junior defensive back Aaron Lewis (Englewood, Ohio/Northmont) and sophomore fullback Travis Sivek (Traverse City, Mich./St. Francis) found their names on the First Team when the teams were released Friday, December 9.

Lewis earned First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors for the third straight year with a league-leading 115 (61 solos) tackles. He also ranked second in the UAA with six interceptions. Lewis recorded double-digit tackles six times, including a career-high 22 against Thiel College in the season finale. Lewis was also named UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week four times during the 2005 season and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week twice. He was most recently named to the D3football.com 2005 All-South Region First Team.

Sivek finished first in the UAA in rushing with 996 yards and in scoring with 9.6 ppg, including 16 touchdowns. The sophomore fullback broke the 100-yard barrier five times including a career-high 196 yards against Case Western Reserve. He also recorded five multi-touchdown games. Sivek finished 2005 second on the single season rushing list at Carnegie Mellon and sixth on the all-time list with 1,741 yards. Sivek was named to the All-UAA First Team and was last year’s ECAC Southwest Rookie of the Year.
