Men’s Cross Country Places Second at UAA’s

Oct. 27 – (BOSTON, Ma) – The 2007 University Athletic Association (UAA) Cross Country Championships were hosted by Brandeis University in Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, October 27. The #18 ranked Carnegie Mellon men’s cross country team raced to a second place finish out of eight teams on the eight kilometer course. New York University, ranked #2 in the nation, placed seven runners in the top 22 en route to winning the meet with 20 points, while the Tartans finished comfortably in second with 68 points.
The Tartans ran well in the rain, placing five runners in the top 20. Junior
Brian Harvey (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Tartans and finished First Team All-UAA with a fourth place overall finish in a personal record time of 25:16. Senior
Geoff Misek (Goodrich, Mich.) finished second on the team for the second straight race, as he took Second Team All-UAA accolades. Misek placed tenth with a personal record time of 25:49.
Sophomore
Dario Donatelli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) finished 15th in 26:01, junior
Ryan Anderson (Orchard Park, N.Y.) placed 19th in 26:08, and junior
Breck Fresen (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) was right on his heels in 20th with the same time.
Junior
Mike Condon (Bend, Ore./Mountain View) ran a huge personal best of 26:19, en route to finishing sixth on the team and 29th overall. A pair of freshmen in Dan Addis (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and
J.P. Allera (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) finished seventh and eighth for the Tartans and 41st and 42nd overall in the race. Addis crossed the line in 26:38 with Allera registering 26:38 as well.
Senior
Mark Tressler (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) and sophomore
Chris Rizzo (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) were the other two Tartans to race at UAA’s, with Tressler placing 71st (28:00) and Rizzo finishing 73rd (28:04).
The Carnegie Mellon men’s cross country team will next be in action on Saturday, November 10 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Lehigh University. The top teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday, November 17th.
