Sept. 5 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men’s cross country team finds a spot in the top 25 men’s preseason poll released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.  The Tartans are currently tied for 14th with 165 points.

The Tartans had a 12th place finish at the 2006 Division III National Championship meet held at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio.  They will look to build on last year’s success heading into this season.

Junior Brian Harvey (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) returns as the Tartans top runner from 2006.  He finished in 46th place at the 2006 NCAA Championships, while junior Breck Fresen (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) placed 53rd.  Besides Harvey and Fresen, the Tartans return three other top runners from a year ago, graduate student Geoff Misek (Goodrich, Mich.), sophomore Dario Donatelli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and senior Mark Tressler (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park).  Newcomer J.P. Allera (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) will play a big part for the Tartans in 2007.
