Gonzalez Garners Second Men’s Basketball UAA Award

Greg Gonzalez (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Greg was honored for his performance in helping the Tartans to a stellar 2-0 week.
Gonzalez averaged 18 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks while shooting 65 percent (13-of-20) from the field and 50 percent (four-of-eight) from the three-point line in helping the Tartans to a pair of Association triumphs, defeating the University of Chicago, 74-60, before scoring an 86-55 victory over then top-ranked Washington University. Gonzalez posted 16 points on six-of-ten from the floor, and added nine rebounds and three blocks in the win over Chicago, before tallying a game-high 20 points (seven-of-ten) and nine rebounds in the victory over Washington. In both games, he was perfect from the free-throw line, converting all six attempts.
The fifth year senior currently ranks second on the school’s all-time block charts with 124 for his career.
