Gonzalez Garners Men’s Basketball UAA Honors
Dec. 11 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior
Greg Gonzalez (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week. Greg was honored for his performance in helping the Tartans to a 70-57 win at Catholic University of America.
Gonzalez scored a career-high 21 points while shooting 58.3 percent from the floor (7-for-12) and made seven of eight free throws. He also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots, one shy of 100 for his career.
The fifth-year senior leads the team with a field goal percentage of 53.1%, 8.7 rebounds per game and 11 block shots. He ranks second in scoring averaging 12.2 points per game. Gonzalez has recorded two double-doubles this season and tallied double figures in points on four occasions.
