Einwag Garners Men’s Basketball UAA Honors


Mar. 12 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Ryan Einwag (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.  Einwag guided the Tartans to a 3-0 week, and the 2008 ECAC South Championship title.  

The junior forward averaged 24.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 63.4% (26-of-41) from the field, 58% (11-of-19) from behind the arc and 91.7% (11-of-12) from the line.  Einwag garnered Most Outstanding Player honors for his performance. 

After scoring 21 points and hauling in five rebounds in a 72-61 opening round win over Grove City College. Einwag led all scorers during the semifinals and finals with 25 and 28 points, respectively.  He recorded his first “double-double” of the season in a 69-54 semifinal win over College Misericordia, hauling in 12 rebounds while shooting 8-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-8 from behind the arc for 25 points.  In a 75-67 win in the championship game against Gwynedd-Mercy College he shot 10-of-15 from the floor, 4-of-7 from the arc, added five rebounds and five assists.
