Gonzalez Earns Spot on D3hoops.com All-Region Team


Mar. 19 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Greg Gonzalez  (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Team as announced by D3hoops.com on Wednesday, March 19. Gonzalez made his way onto the ballot with his All-UAA First Team selection and was named to the region third team by the region's sports information directors.

Gonzalez led the UAA in two offensive categories after hauling in 9.6 rebounds and rejecting 1.8 shots per game.  He finished the regular season second on the team in scoring with 13.2 points per game.  Gonzalez recorded his 500th career rebound against Case Western Reserve University, a game that he hauled in a career-high 21 boards.  He scored in double figures in 18 of the Tartans 25 games, including the last twelve and scored a career-high 25 points at Case Western Reserve.  The fifth year senior has tallied eleven double-doubles and ranks second on the school’s all-time block chart with 141.  He was named UAA Athlete of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week twice this season, as well as to the national D3hoops.com Team of the Week once.

Gonzalez averaged 17.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots during the Tartans ECAC South Championship run and finished the year with a 13.6 scoring average and 9.9 rebounds a game.
