Carnegie Mellon Falls to Brandeis 75-52

Feb. 9 - (WALTHAM, Mass.) – Brandeis University ran away with the second half in the Tartans 75-52 loss on the road Friday, February 9. The Judges shot 51.6% in the second stanza and held the Tartans to 33.3% on their way to victory.

The first half saw nine lead changes before the Judges (15-6, 5-5) held a 35-29 advantage heading into the locker room. Carnegie Mellon (12-8, 5-5) was tough in the paint scoring 14 points, while Brandeis managed eight from inside.

The second half was different however, as the Judges scored 22 points in the paint and totaled 14 points off 12 Tartan turnovers to push the lead to as many as 26 points.

Sophomore Ryan Einwag (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was the only Tartan to score in double figures with 12 points. He also led the team on the backboards with eight.

Steve DeLuca and Florian Rexhepi each scored 16 points to lead four Judges in double figures. Joe Coppens and Stephen Hill chipped in 12 points and Kwame Graves-Fulgham dished out six assists.

Carnegie Mellon now heads to New York University where they will face the #16 Violets on Sunday, February 11 at 12:00 p.m. in University Athletic Association action.
