Carnegie Mellon’s Maurer Scored 1,500th Point
Feb. 2 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon senior forward Nate Maurer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Linsly School) reached the 1,500 point plateau last Friday, January 27 against the University of Chicago in Chicago, Ill.
The 6-7 forward from Mt. Lebanon, Pa. needed just five points heading into the Chicago game. Maurer came away leading all scorers with 23. Two days later he recorded 14 points in leading the Tartans to an 86-80 victory at Washington (Mo.) University and now has 1,533 career points. Maurer is a transfer from Grove City College where he scored 740 points in two years for the Wolverines.
Maurer is leading the University Athletic Association (UAA) in scoring with 19.1 points per game and is third in three-point field goal percentage shooting 43.3 %.
The senior has helped Carnegie Mellon to a 15-3 mark and 5-2 record in the UAA. Earlier this season Maurer scored a career-high 41 points in a 72-71 victory in Rochester, N.Y. Maurer hit the game-winning shot with 2.2 seconds showing on the clock. He would also shoot 7-of-8 from behind the arc.
