Johnson Garners UAA Weekly Honors

Jan. 10 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior Marques Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week. Johnson was honored for his performance in leading the 16th ranked Tartans to a 2-1 week, which included a pair of UAA road victories.

Johnson averaged 19.7 points, four rebounds, 4.7 assists, and shot 68.8 percent (22 of 32) from the floor last week. After being held to only three points and four assists in a 96-83 loss to Bluffton University, Johnson led all scorers as he had a career-high 32 points, converting 11-of-13 from the floor (3-of-4 from 3-point range), and dished out a career-high eight assists in a 103-85 triumph over UAA foe Brandeis University. Two days later he recorded a team-high 24 points, shooting 10-of-15 from the floor, in an 89-85 double overtime win at New York University.

This marks the second UAA Athlete of the Week honor for Johnson this season.
