Strength & Conditioning

Carnegie Mellon is at the forefront of NCAA Division III athletics becoming one of a select few colleges or universities to employ a full-time strength and conditioning staff member.

Carnegie Mellon strength and conditioning staff members use Olympic based movements to increase strength, power, and lean body mass. The staff also incorporates a multitude of performance enhancing modalities to aid in decreasing the risk of non-contact injuries and to correct muscular dysfunction and imbalances.

Carnegie Mellon strength and conditioning staff members believe in developing not only a solid body but also a solid mind. Student-athletes are informally educated on various topics and concepts related to strength and conditioning. Topics are simple enough to be easily applied to the student-athletes everyday life but are created from current research and literature in the strength and conditioning community.

Topics that are addressed are: Sports Nutrition, The Female Athlete, Performance Enhancement Benefits of Strength & Conditioning and specific concepts related to strength and conditioning.
