School of Art Facilities & Equipment
Students have 24-hour access to a variety of work space, including: excellent digital facilities, new and improved printmaking and sculpture shops, and light-filled painting and drawing studios.
The School of Art occupies the 3rd & 4th floors of the College of Fine Arts (CFA) building and B, C, D levels of Doherty Hall (DH), two buildings that blend the grandeur and charm of original Henry Hornbostel architecture with state-of-the art facilities and spaces in which to make, live and breathe art.
Approximately 54,000 sq. ft. of space is divided amongst:
- multipurpose classrooms
- media presentation rooms
- seminar and critique spaces
- technical support facilities
- media-specialized studios and workshops
- student and faculty studios and staff offices
Each media area (DP3, SIS, ETB) is managed by technical staff and has its own rules and regulations of use.
Faculty & students must stay up-to-date on these rules, accessible in their media workspaces and the student handbook. In order to keep heavily used facilities running well, we rely on students, faculty and staff to be vigilant about their surroundings and to report anything that appears to be out of order.
