American Society of Theatre Consultants Forum 2010 Internship Program

The American Society of Theatre Consultants Annual Forum in Washington, D.C. will host the ASTC Internship Program on October 1-2, 2010.

ASTC is the professional society of theatre consultants in North America. Our membership consists of practicing theatre consultants who strive to provide the utmost of professional service in the field of theatre consulting.In the spirit of our organization, we recognize our responsibility to further our profession by providing a means for students of theatre and architecture who may be interested in pursuing a career in the field of theatre consulting to learn the scope of work involved.

Therefore, we will invite a select group of students to join our Forum 2010 meeting for a two day seminar in theatre consulting in Washington, D.C., October 1st and 2nd, 2010.

FORUM 2010: The ASTC Forum 2010 will encompass topics including “Members on Members”, documenting the influence of the Theatre Consultant on theatre design and construction. This will provide a unique opportunity for participants to gain insight into the consulting process through an examination of specific projects by contributing offices. Interns will participate in all Forum sessions and venue tours as well as have direct dialog with ASTC members regarding aspects of theatre consulting such as the design of the audience environment, the application of theatre technology and the integration of the consultant’s work into the architectural process.

ELIGIBILITY: The seminar will be limited to eight students. Interns should either be an undergraduate beginning their senior year or graduate student enrolled in a university Theatre or Architecture department. Applications must be endorsed by a faculty member.

COST: $150 - includes all tours, social events and associated meals. Transportation and lodging will be the responsibility of the intern. Two scholarships will be available based on need.

Specific housing information will be made available as soon as it has been finalized. Participants in the Internship Program are not required to stay at the designated hotel, but it is recommended for convenience. The estimated room rate for ASTC Forum ’10 is $150.00 to $175.00 per night +Tax – Single/Double.
