Hutzell / el Samahy Win Berkman Grant

"Pittsburgh Projects, Phase One"

Kelly Hutzell and Rami el Samahy received a Berkman grant to develop phase one of Pittsburgh Projects, an educational web-based application that focuses on the city’s architecture throughout its history. Combining research, graphic design and interaction design, the app will allow users to sift through the data via a series of filters, including time, location, use, style and built status. Phase one is anticipated to include the forty-five most significant Pittsburgh buildings, including those by international, national and local architects. It is hoped that these digital postcards will eventually serve as an architectural guidebook to the city.
