Future Tenant Wants You!

Multiple Opportunities

FUTURE TENANT, the student-run exhibiton/performance space in the Cultural District, seeks artists and designers from all five CFA schools who might be interested in participating various Future Tenant projects!

Open Call: Window Installation

Future Tenant is seeking artists to create site-specific window installations in our Downtown storefront windows at 819 Penn Ave in downtown Pittsburgh. Our mission is to give innovative, local artists a prominent location to get noticed. Our window installation series is an opportunity to have a solo show in a smaller, but highly visible space. Being right smack in the middle of the Downtown Cultural District means we get a ton of foot traffic. Windows are on 24 hours a day, for 3-4 weeks at a time.

Open Call for Curators - Deadline: March 1st

Future Tenant is seeking guest curators to create innovative exhibitions for our gallery, located at 819 Penn Ave in downtown Pittsburgh. We host curated exhibits three times a year, typically in fall, winter, and spring months. Each exhibition runs for four weeks.

Future Tenant seeks to unite emerging artists from Pittsburgh and the surrounding area with community audiences in a non-traditional atmosphere that promotes new and unique ways of experiencing art. Future Tenant champions the accessibility of artistic experience, both for the exhibiting artist showing and the audience.

Open Call: Future Tenant Annual Fundraiser

Future Tenant, a non-profit arts gallery in Pittsburgh’s Downtown Cultural District, kindly invites you to contribute a 10x10 piece of original artwork to be auctioned off at our tenth annual spring fundraiser on Friday, March 30, 2012. If you donate work, Future Tenant will feature your art and contact information on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages, and in the fundraiser program. Last year, our auction was very successful, with approximately 75 works seen by nearly 500 guests. We are anticipating a similar turn out this year, so your work would receive the same level of visibility.

Future Tenant is a multi-disciplinary space run by Carnegie Mellon Master of Arts Management students. We feature alternative visual art exhibitions and performances by emerging artists from Pittsburgh and around the country. Our activities are driven by a threefold mission to provide a setting that encourages artists and art managers to learn by taking risks, to become the premiere alternative arts space in downtown Pittsburgh, and to help revitalize the downtown area by using art as a tool for urban redevelopment. To fund our visual and performing arts programming, we rely almost entirely on the funds raised at our annual fundraiser.

All of the donations we receive are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. Should you participate in our art auction by generously donating one of your works, you will receive a complimentary ticket to the fundraiser, which includes an open bar, food, and entertainment, and a letter recognizing the amount of your donation for tax deduction purposes.
