Target Seeks Sustainability Manager

Location: Minneapolis, MN, US

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provides guidance on enterprise environmental sustainability program and initiatives. Continuously improves Target's business practices through environmental stewardship. Leads a team of project managers and supports developmental and growth opportunities for the team.

Develops and maintains partnerships across Target, serving as an internal resource, and providing strategic leadership to address current or emerging issues. Manages relationships with industry leaders and represents Target on external panels.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Influence Target's long-term profitable growth by understanding and addressing environmental impact in supply chains of top product categories, growing sales of sustainable merchandise, and identifying operational efficiencies and cost reductions

2. Increase Target's guest relevancy by ensuring Target becomes a shopping destination for sustainable solutions and incorporating sustainability into key merchandising and marketing processes

3. Strengthen Target's reputation by establishing Target as a retail leader in environmental sustainability and a credible resource for helping people live more sustainably

4. Maintain a deep understanding of business processes

5. Set priorities and work with business leaders to define and implement innovative solutions or enable new business opportunities

6. Lead and develop team members by providing feedback, coaching, recognition and performance reviews. Interviews potential new team members and provides onboarding experience to facilitate swift integration

7. Provide guidance over the creation of metrics and measures to monitor program performance

8. Identify program opportunities or improvements by trend analysis, benchmarking, and internal or external audit results

9. Collaborate with other leaders to lead cross functional teams

10. Educate and inform internal and external partners through formal and informal presentations

- Bachelor's Degree
- 4-7 years of experience in business or related field
- Supervisory and management experience including leading cross-functional teams, engaging multi disciplinary groups, developing strategies and strategic plans
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Solid decision making ability/Independent action
- Ability to establish realistic priorities and performance indicators
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners and form cohesive plans and processes across diverse business groups
- Ability to travel as needed
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and experience in high stress environments.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

· Advanced degree in a discipline or related field (advanced specialized degree may substitute for a portion of experience)
