The Penn State Department of Architectural Engineering is seeking applicants for a newly created
Research Associate/Post-doctoral Scholar position focused on residential and commercial building
energy efficiency.

The responsibilities of this position include the support and management of Penn State’s National Energy Leadership Corps program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program. This program is currently focused upon the development of new processes and analytical tools to support energy auditing and energy management in buildings.

Candidates should have interests in building science, renewable energy systems, home area networks, energy analysis, and energy monitoring. This position will include the project management of Building America deliverables, communication with collaborating partners and institutions, interaction with DOE program managers, preparation of research reports and publications, the management of graduate assistants, and the
coordination of research programs with integrated undergraduate research programs. Expected fields of scholarship include heat transfer, thermodynamics, simulation modeling, control systems, and construction management. Preference will be given to candidates that have practical training and licensing in building energy engineering, FE/PE, RESNET/BPI, and that have relationships with NAHB, ASHRAE, utilities, and the home energy efficiency industry.
