Architectural Record's, "New Life for the American City" mentions the School of Architecture has been an influential advocate for sustainable design in the city and worldwide through its Center for Building Performance and Diagnostics, Computational Design Laboratory, Intelligent Workplace Laboratory and Remaking Cities Institute. 

The Gates and Hillman centers are among Pittsburgh buildings featured for their sustainable design elements. 

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's, "Growth with a vision", references the Architectural Record feature.
