Lecture: Michael Braungart, "Cradle to Cradle, Building Like a Tree"

Professor Dr. Michael Braungart is a founder of EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH, Hamburg. He also is co-founder of McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) in Charlottesville, Virginia (USA) and Scientific Manager of Hamburger Umweltinstitut (HUI), the non-profit research center, which edits the "Top 50 Study", a ranking of the environmental quality of companies of the chemical industry, EPEA, MBDC and HUI share common values which include intelligent and eco-effective design.

Braungart contributes world-wide to scientific discussions questioning the negative consequences of consumer items produced in industry. Braungart is currently concentrating his efforts at MBDC and EPEA on successful co-operation with known companies on issues of materials assessment, waste and energy balance, life-cycle design, and design for disassembly. He is also active in designing new products, for instance his instrumental involvement in the creation of the compostable fabric line Climatex Lifecycle alson with William McDonough.
