This presentation will investigate regulatory and societal drivers that are likely going to result in the largest change in lighting technology that we have seen in the last 100 years. A corollary result might also be a fairly significant change in the way we design and build our buildings.

The talk will examine the evolution building codes over the last 10 years, the effects of legislation and regulations on lighting products, and the environmental and green initiatives that drive us towards higher energy efficiency. It remains unclear whether we are headed towards an
LED-lighting dominated future, but the future will nevertheless be one of change, and one where lighting control will play a larger role than before.
