Career Opportunities-School of Architecture - Carnegie Mellon University

The School of Architecture recommends that students seek summer internships after their third year. This allows students time to build a knowledge base to actively participate in an architecture firm upon graduation.

The Carnegie Mellon Career Center is an essential resource for students looking for a job or internship. The Career Center provides a comprehensive range of services, programs, and materials focusing on career exploration & decision making, skill development, experiential learning, and career resolution. The Career Center is located on the lower level of the University Center. School of Architecture students have a dedicated Career Center consultant, Sonjala Allen. To schedule an appointment with Sonjala, call 412-268-2064.

The campus Career Center hosts the Creative Arts and Opportunities Conference (CAOC) in the spring semester to assist students in CFA with finding both summer and full-time employment opportunities. To RSVP for the CAOC, you must register with TartanTrak, Carnegie Mellon's online recruiting system. Using TartanTrak, students can submit resumes, sign up for interviews, and find contact information for thousands of recruiters.

Students should have a resume, cover letter, and portfolio prepared prior to contacting architecture firms. It is recommended that students contact firms prior to spring break in order to be able to schedule interviews and firm visits.
