Daylight Fluorescent
Paints: developing an
appropriate lighting condition for objects containing fluorescent paints by
removing regions of light, which cause damage to occur to the pigments from
fading and photobleaching.
Gems and Minerals:
exploring ways to better display the artifact by eliminating portions of
light causing damage upon exposure.
Japanese Colorants: surveying the light sensitivity of colorants on Japanese woodblock prints from the 18th and
19th
century using the micro fading tester.
Micro-Fading Tester:
developing new instrumentation to identify artifacts sensitive to light
exposure, based on the direct measurement of material and pigment/dye lightfastness.
Transparent Glazes:
investigating the light fading of transparent glazes resulting from
photochemical reactions, which are found to be dependent on the total amount of
colorant available in the glaze layer.
