The Summer Research Fellowship program awards grants of $3500 to undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon for 8-10 weeks of summer research in any field of study.

What can I do?
Students interested in any form of research may apply. All you need is an idea and a faculty advisor willing to supervise your research on campus for 8-10 weeks. You can work alone or in a group, but you must apply for the Fellowship as an individual - no group awards are available.

How much funding can I get?
Each Fellowship is given as a $3500 stipend. You will work hourly over 8-10 weeks and complete a bi-weekly timecard through your department. The award is subject to all applicable taxes.

Special funds are available for students in science and engineering, and for women and students of color.

Am I eligible?
You are eligible if you are:
-A CMU undergraduate student - including freshmen - in a degree-granting program;
-Going to be enrolled during the Fall semester after your fellowship;
-In good academic standing (not on probation, leave of absence or suspension.

When should I apply?
If you are interested in a Summer Fellowship for Summer 2009, the deadline is Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
There are NEW GUIDELINES for applying this year - please see How To Apply. Appointments to meet with Stephanie Wallach, Director of the URO, to review proposals should be made no later than March 16, 2009.

What are the Fellowship Requirements?
By accepting your fellowship, you are agreeing to:
