Computing Services Planning and Project Management Office

The Planning and Project Management Office (PPMO) supports Computing Services' commitment to more structured planning and process/project management. The PPMO helps the division select the right projects and supports their successful implementation through planning, project work.

The tenets of our planning and project work are:

  • Encourage coordination of division resources through early notification of projects during regular planning cycles.
  • Coordinate Tactical Planning to select a division project portfolio based on priorities and appropriate project style (Discovery, Activity Review, Delivery)
  • Facilitate high level understanding of project objectives, approach, resources and risks through templates that capture key project components.
  • Create a project management culture to improve the outcome of projects – on time, within budget, and with expected deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the Head Architect and architect committee to assure that the planning processes and outcomes are integrated with the vision and strategies detailed in the architecture roadmap.
  • For more information please see our strategic plan.

Usage Architecture and Analysis

In addition, the Usage Architecture and Analysis team within the PPMO works to provide data for divisional decision-making. In that role, we:

  • With the Head Architect, coordinate the development of the architecture roadmap.
  • Provide ad-hoc and ongoing data analysis of divisional service logs and surveys to evaluate user demographics, usage trends, and user requirements.
  • Provide a central point of contact for meeting external requests for IT-based "institutional research" information, such as the EDUCAUSE Core Data survey
  • Perform external benchmarking with IT peers in higher education for selected issues
