Special Needs

For Our Guests with Special Needs

If you or your guests have concerns or specific questions, please call the Office of University Events at 412-268-5052. We will make every effort to accommodate you.

Seating

Seating for guests with special needs and their families will be available in a special section on the field surface, which will be indicated with signage. Up to three guests are permitted to sit with a disabled guest. Volunteers will be stationed in this area to assist guests with seating.

Sign Language 

A sign language interpreter will be positioned in front of this seating section. A seating map will be available at the Commencement Welcome Area, or ask any commencement staff member for assistance. No reservation is required for this seating.

Wheelchairs

A wheelchair-accessible ramp to the field is near the stadium entry closest to the University Center. All campus buildings and parking areas are also wheelchair accessible.

A limited number of wheelchairs and electric scooters will be available for rental on campus on Sunday, May 18 only. To ensure availability, please call the Wheelchair Exchange at 412-241-5121 to reserve your rental. Two-day rates, hotel and home delivery are also available.


Prices (per day):

  • Standard Wheelchairs $15
  • Electric Scooters $45
  • Wheelchairs $45

Campus pick-up/drop-off location: Wean Commons, first floor, University Center

Hours: Sunday, May 18, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. 


We strongly encourage those guests who have difficulty walking to bring or rent a wheelchair for the weekend.

Parking

Wheelchair accessible parking is available in all campus lots. The first floor of the East Campus Garage will be reserved specifically for guests with special needs on Sunday ONLY. Parking attendants will assist with traffic direction from Forbes Avenue. No prior arrangements need to be made.
