Weekend Transportation
Parking
Saturday and Sunday:
Parking is available in the following campus lots all day. (NOTE: Parking is limited.)
- East Campus Garage (no charge)
- Morewood (no charge)
- Doherty (no charge)
- Collaborative Information Center (Charges are $4 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour, up to $16.)
- Dithridge/Software Engineering Institute garage (minimal charge; off campus)
Sunday ONLY:
- Parking lots fill quickly on Sunday morning because of the number of early morning diploma ceremonies.
- Although handicapped parking is available in all campus lots, the first floor of the East Campus Garage will be reserved specifically for those with special needs. No prior arrangements need to be made.
- Complimentary shuttle service between campus, the off-campus parking lot (Dithridge/Software Engineering Institute) and the off-campus diploma ceremonies will also be available. Please see below for more details.
Additional parking on city property:
The following streets/areas have metered parking available. Meters are monitored on Saturday by the City of Pittsburgh Police and parking violations may be ticketed. Please follow posted regulations. Meters are not monitored on Sundays.
- Margaret Morrison Street: Margaret Morrison Street intersects Forbes Avenue (next to the intramural fields).
- Frew Street Parking: Frew Street is off the Golf Course Road and Tech Street (next to Tepper and Porter/Baker Halls); wheelchair accessible parking available.
- Tech Street Parking: Tech Street runs between Skibo Gymnasium and Tepper, off Margaret Morrison Street (accessible from Forbes Avenue).
Shuttles
Complimentary shuttle service will be available between campus, the off-campus parking lot (Dithridge/Software Engineering Institute garage) and off-campus diploma ceremonies on Sunday, May 18 ONLY. The shuttle pick-up and drop-off location is Forbes Avenue (near Cyert Hall). If you prefer to drive or walk, directions will be available at the Commencement Welcome Area.
Circulation time schedule for Sunday, May 18:
- 7:30 - 10:45 a.m.: PRE-COMMENCEMENT CIRCULATION
Shuttles will run continuously between the Carnegie Mellon campus and the Dithridge/Software Engineering Institute parking garage.
- 12:15 - 4 p.m.: POST COMMENCEMENT CIRCULATION
Shuttles will run continuously between the Carnegie Mellon campus, the off-campus parking lot and off-campus diploma ceremony locations. (Shuttles will continue to run to Rodef Shalom Congregation and the Frick Fine Arts Building until 5 p.m. to accommodate those attending the Heinz School and School of Architecture events.)
