Contact: Israeli Journalist To Discuss War in Lebanon In Carnegie Mellon University Lecture Series
PITTSBURGH—Veteran Israeli journalist Elli Wohlgelernter, a television reporter for the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) English News will give a talk at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, as part of the University Lecture Series at Carnegie Mellon University. Wohlgelernter's lecture, "The War in Lebanon: Win, Lose or Draw — A Reporter's Perspective," will take place in the Adamson Wing (136A) of Baker Hall. It is free and open to the public.
In his talk, Wohlgelernter will offer his take on the conflict as a reporter who covered it and discuss the war's political ramifications as well as its future implications. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Hillel Jewish University Center.
In addition to his work with the IBA, Wohlgelernter, 52, is an editor of the forthcoming second edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica. He previously worked as an editor at Haaretz and was Diaspora affairs editor and a reporter for The Jerusalem Post. Prior to moving to Israel in 1991, Wohlgelernter, who lives in Jerusalem with his two daughters, was managing editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a reporter for the New York Post, and wrote and reported the news for Fox and ABC-TV in New York and Seattle. He also worked for radio stations in New York and Connecticut.
