Contact: Carnegie Mellon's Center for Arts Management and Technology Announces Conference To Celebrate Its 10th Anniversary
PITTSBURGH—Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Arts Management and Technology (CAMT) will celebrate its 10th anniversary Oct. 20-21 with a Technology in the Arts Conference at Carnegie Mellon's Oakland campus.
The conference will serve as a way to access and spread knowledge about technology in the arts and will feature sessions in three categories: strategic technology planning, community building and implementing technology. Each session was created to address how different parts of arts management are adapting to an unpredictable technological world.
"We at CAMT bring technology expertise to the table, as well as an understanding of arts management. It's unique to be at a crossroad like this, to have this objective, stepped-back, academic approach that is also hands-on, and that is very exciting," said Cary McQueen Morrow, CAMT executive director. "This conference is about being very interdisciplinary across the entire arts spectrum."
Funded in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the conference will wrap-up with a birthday party, titled "camt@ten," in downtown Pittsburgh. The party is open to all conference attendees and members of the Pittsburgh community.

About CAMT: CAMT is an applied research center in Carnegie Mellon's Institute for the Management of Creative Enterprises (IMCE), a joint program between the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management and the College of Fine Arts. CAMT began as a small student project in 1996 and is now an influential organization within the arts community. During its 10-year history, the organization has engaged in community-building practices that help art meet technology through software and online programs like grant applications and artist rosters. CAMT works directly with nearly 50 national organizations and indirectly with more than 200 other organizations by providing free Web site hosting and email management as a community service. CAMT's clients range from visual and performing arts organizations to arts agencies and service organizations on both local and national levels.
