French Film Kicks Off Third Annual International Film Festival at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH—The Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University will launch its third annual international film festival, "Culture Through the Ages," with the French film "Bon Voyage" at 5 p.m., March 1. All films in the series will be screened in McConomy Auditorium in Carnegie Mellon's University Center.

The film festival, co-sponsored by the Modern Languages Student Advisory Council, runs through April 19 and will feature a film every Wednesday (except March 15). The original version of each film will be shown with English subtitles. The films are free and open to the public.

A complete schedule follows:

  • March 1, 5 p.m., "Bon Voyage" (French)
  • March 8, 5 p.m., "Warriors of Heaven and Earth" (Chinese)
  • March 22, 5 p.m., "Sharaku" (Japanese)
  • March 29, 5 p.m., "El Abuelo" (Spanish)
  • April 5, 5:30 p.m., "Nights of Cabiria" (Italian)
  • April 12, 5 p.m., "The Thief" (Russian)
  • April 19, 5 p.m., "Der Untergang" (German)
