Contact: Carnegie Mellon Professors Help with Launch of The Girls, Math & Science Partnership's BrainCake.org
PITTSBURGH—The Girls, Math & Science Partnership (GMSP) and Family Communications Inc. (FCI) will host a reception to unveil BrainCake.org at FCI in Oakland at WQED's Studio A at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 16.
BrainCake.org is a Web site designed to give local girls their own online community filled with news, activities, games, mentoring and scholarship resources designed to foster their interest in the fields of math and science.
The GMSP is a public and private work force development collaboration between Fred Rogers' Family Communication Inc., Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh. The GMSP focus is to expand informal learning opportunities for girls and boys to explore entrepreneurship, math and science in the Western Pennsylvania region. The projects of GMSP include other community partners: The Heinz Endowments, Alcoa Foundation, local business, government, educational organizations and the National Science Foundation.
FCI is located in Oakland at 4802 Fifth Avenue. Parking is available at WQED's parking lot.
