Carnegie Mellon Appoints Lisa Kirchner as Qatar Marketing and Media Director

PITTSBURGH — To help fulfill its mission to attract and recruit international students for Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Lisa Kirchner has been appointed as director of marketing and public relations for the new campus located in Doha, Qatar.

Kirchner has 15 years experience in creating and executing strategic media relations and marketing campaigns for both non- and for-profit organizations.

Her background includes Internet start-ups, arts organizations, and academic and consumer products. Kirchner has directed media relations and marketing campaigns, implementing her in-depth knowledge of strategic planning, crisis communication, solution management and grassroots organizing while she held various positions at, Ketchum Public Relations, The Andy Warhol Museum and The Carnegie Museum of Art, The Ohio Arts Council, and the Columbus Museum of Art.

In addition, Kirchner has worked as a journalist writing arts, entertainment and general news features and reviews for publications including Pittsburgh City Paper, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Out, Pulp, Pittsburgh Magazine, as well as Columbus, Ohio-based outlets The Other Paper and dialogue: arts in the midwest.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and has won numerous industry and professional awards including Silver and Bronze Anvils. She is on the board of Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania's Action Fund and Preservation Pittsburgh and is a member of Pittsburgh's Executive Women's Committee.
