To Unveil New Race Car For Upcoming College Race
PITTSBURGHCarnegie Mellon University's mechanical engineering and design students will unveil a newly designed race car at noon Friday, May 14, at the Singleton Room in Roberts Hall. The team, led by Chris D'Eramo and Dan Fry, will compete next week in Pontiac, Mich., in the 26th annual Society of Automotive Engineers Race, which tests both design and engineering prowess of the cars and team members entered.
Carnegie Mellon will compete against 140 different cars from universities and colleges throughout the world May 18-23 at the Silver Dome.
Representatives from a variety of local Pittsburgh companies, including PPG, which supplied the finish for the student-built car, will give the team a gala sendoff.
