Carnegie Mellon Experts Join Panel To Discuss Reporting Cyberterrorism

PITTSBURGH—A panel of reporters and researchers from Carnegie Mellon University will examine media coverage of cybersecurity in the wake of September 11 and the war on terrorism Monday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Susan Bennett, Newseum director of international exhibits, will moderate the panel program that includes Robert O'Harrow, reporter for The Washington Post; John Schwartz, technology reporter for The New York Times; Richard Pethia, director of Carnegie Mellon's CERT Coordination Center, which serves as a focal point to report computer security incidents; and Pradeep Khosla, co-director of CyLab and Dowd professor and head of electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon. CyLab is a new integrated initiative at Carnegie Mellon to protect the privacy and security of every person who logs on a computer, whether at home or at work.

The Newseum, the interactive museum of news, will be relocating to new headquarters at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue N.W. and Sixth Street in Washington, D.C., in 2006.
