Carnegie Mellon's Tiniest Graduates
Set to Receive Their Diplomas
WHAT: Carnegie Mellon University's Children's School will hold a graduation ceremony for 22 kindergarten children and their families, followed by a reception for all families to celebrate the school's achievements over the past year.
WHEN: 9 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2003. The graduation ceremony is scheduled to last an hour. The reception will begin at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Room 14, Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall, Carnegie Mellon University, 5000 Forbes Avenue in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh.
WHY: The Children's School has had a banner year. This year's achievements include accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and improvement of the playground.
ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S SCHOOL: The Children's School was founded 35 years ago and is part of the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon. About 90 children in preschool and kindergarten attend the school, which also serves as a research lab for psychology students studying early childhood cognitive development. The Children's School also provides professional development services and training to early childhood educators throughout the Pittsburgh region.
