Carnegie Mellon's Hollinger to Speak
at Tissue Engineering International Conference
EVENT: Jeffrey O. Hollinger, director of Carnegie Mellon University's Bone Tissue Engineering Center, will speak at the third annual Engineering Tissue Growth International Conference and Exposition about a variety of bone tissue engineering therapies that are being developed. At Carnegie Mellon, researchers are looking not only at the biology of bone tissue but also at its engineering makeup. The researchers recently identified a molecule that can be injected into a wound to enhance healing. They are also creating another tissue engineering approach by building the scaffolding and framework to help shape the bone tissue that needs to be restored. More than 70 scientific sessions will give conference participants an opportunity to foster tissue engineering collaborations and accelerate the pace of scientific discovery to make tissue-engineered products readily available to patients worldwide.
WHEN: 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 19
WHERE: Westin Convention Center, 1000 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa.
Contact Chriss Swaney at 412-268-5776 for more information.
