Carnegie Mellon to Celebrate National Engineers Week

EVENT: Carnegie Mellon University will feature a variety of hands-on programs and demonstrations designed to promote science and engineering to Pittsburgh-area youth. Some of the activities include launching handmade rockets and navigating a robot through a challenging miniature racecourse.

This year, more than 600 volunteers representing 64 societies, agencies, companies and universities are scheduled to participate in National Engineers Week. During the two-day weekend, more than 7,000 youngsters are expected to participate in a variety of Carnegie Mellon engineering projects.

Carnegie Mellon's College of Engineering is one of the top-ranked programs in the nation with students majoring in chemical, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering, civil and environmental engineering, materials science, environmental and public policy and biomedical and health engineering programs.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15
