Carnegie Mellon Hosts Lecture, Workshop
On Alcohol and Young Adults
EVENT: Alan Marlatt, renowned researcher and director of the Addictive Behaviors Research Center at the University of Washington, will lecture and host a workshop on alcohol and young adults. Marlatt's lecture, "What Works? What Doesn't Work?" will cover intervention and prevention efforts. An Alcohol Skills Training workshop based on the BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) will follow the lecture.
Marlatt is highly recognized for his work with brief interventions and cognitive counseling techniques for the young adult population.
The workshop and lecture fee of $35 includes lunch and is open to the public. The event is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon Student Health Services and the Community Alcohol Coalition "Campus Connections."
WHEN: The lecture runs from 9 - 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22. The workshop follows from 10:45 a.m. - 4 p.m.
