We are looking for creative and dynamic CMU students (junior or senior CMU students - or maybe very enterprising sophomores)
for the positions of Research Mentor, Communication Mentor
, Web designer/Administration or Volunteer.
Graduate students are also welcome for volunteering positions!
All applicants should have a positive problem solving approach, good interpersonal skills,
creativity, ability to work in a team atmosphere and a sympathetic understanding of the
objectives of MSOP.

Research Mentor
Description: As a research mentor, you would be in charge of guiding a small group of students (up to 3 or 4)
through their projects, stimulating their involvement and focusing their effort.
Guide in researching for topics, brainstorming adequate level of research, guide through thorough research of topic
and methods chosen. Help plan experiment in terms of time, materials and deadlines. Promote critical thinking and
understanding of each step, careful note-taking, innovations or alterations to the procedure starting from the student
and discussion with peers. Support the student¹s preparation of presentation, encourage thinking about future experiments
and impact of findings.
Required:Research experience (in any scientific field) required.
Hours: 10h/week.
Pay: Yes.

Communication Mentor
Description: As a communication mentor, your responsibilities will be to guide students
through library and internet research. Foment their oral and writing communication skills
during their research and especially during the preparation of their presentations.
Having web design skills is not required but desirable, to allow the text produced
to be placed on-line. Potential creation of a database of past projects.
Required:Applicants should have great writing, editing and research skills.
Hours: 10h/week.
Pay: Yes.

Web designer/Administrative Position
Description:This position has two-fold responsibilities, it include maintenance and improvement of the
MSOP website and administrative support: student enrollment, organizing fairs and fair attendance,
promoting awareness of MSOP and organizing multimedia support.
Requirements:Applicants should have good writing, editing and organizational skills, knowledge
of web authoring software (either text or editor-based)
Hours: 10h/week.
Pay: Yes.
