Wellness is a Priority
The well-being of every individual in the Carnegie Mellon family is a top priority for the university. Here's a snapshot of some of our services:
Programs like SafeWalk provide students with security measures at late hours — and can be reached at 412-268-SAFE (7233), 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week. The University Shuttle/Escort service — at 412-268-RIDE (7433) — can also be used if you are out at night alone. And the CampusWatch program encourages the entire university to take a part in ensuring the welfare of their peers.
Carnegie Mellon's Emergency Medical Service handles urgent medical needs of the campus community 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Student Health Services provide regular medical care for students, from prescriptions to immunizations to checkups.
Counseling and Psychological Services offer a confidential and supportive environment for students to discuss personal or academic concerns.
Carnegie Mellon police and security officers patrol campus throughout the day and night. University Police can be reached on the more than 50 special emergency phones throughout campus.
Carnegie Mellon's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Department is committed to providing health and safety services that protect the university community and the environment. The department is responsible for many university safety programs, ranging from biology and chemical safety to fire safety and emergency preparation.
The Alert Now emergency notification service is available to all students, faculty and staff. The Alert Now service sends voice messages to designated phones in the event of an emergency on campus. All members of the campus community are encouraged to participate in this program by registering online [AndrewID required].
