Incoming first year students

What should I do before starting classes at CMU this fall?

• Shadow a clinician, such as a dentist, doctor, nurse or physician assistant
• Participate in a summer research opportunity, if available
• Volunteer at a local hospital or clinic
• Work Read some good books
• Exercise and get some sleep!
• Spend quality time with family and friends!

• Registration week: Spring 2025 TBD

To do items once you have arrived on campus

1. Meet with your first-year academic advisor to review your academic schedule and sign up for Stellic
2. Enroll in the HPP. We’ll then add you to the HPP Community Canvas page.
3. Schedule a meeting with the HPP Director, ideally within the first 2-4 weeks of starting classes
4. Keep an eye out for important emails from HPP-Office@andrew.cmu.edu
5. Check the HPP Canvas page regularly for announcements and resources to engage with other pre-health students
